Upon completion of this assignment, students will be able to understand about the concept of Mobility, Social Construction of Gender, Gender Identity, Gender Role, under the influence of modernity and globalization.

Social mobility is an act of moving from one social class to another. The amount of movement up and down the class structure would indicate the extent of social mobility prevalent in the society. There exist different types of Social Mobility. Vertical mobility, Horizontal mobility, Intra-generational mobility and Inter-generational mobility are some of them.

Explain any THREE of the following types of Social Mobility with the help of examples from the circle of your Friend and Family?

Females now are more aware of their rights and are more Socially Mobile than before.

Explain and evaluate the view that females in 21st Century have more autonomy to reject traditional family roles because of a shift in gender ideology, globalization and high level of social mobility. Explain with the help of examples.

Background:

Socialization is a complex, lifelong process. Freud believed that biology plays a major part in human development, though not in terms of human instincts. He theorized that humans have two basic needs that are there at birth. First is the need for bonding, which Freud called the “life instinct”. Second, we have an aggressive drive he called the “death instinct”. Freud joined basic needs with the influence of society to form a model of personality with three parts: id, ego and superego.
