Cumulative grade point average (CGPA) is the weighted mean value of all grade points earned by enrollment or by examination in courses at VU.
(Explanation: GPA and CGPA includes the number of credit hours at VU for a letter grade even if a grade of “F” was earned).
Any improved grade will substitute “F” and “D” grades of the previous Semester for calculating CGPA but “F” and “D” grades will form part of the transcript.
CGPA means included F grade and Effective CGPA not included F grade.

Admissions are being offered in various programs for Fall semester 2017 by Virtual University so all the individuals who are interested in joining the first and only Information & Communication Technologies based university of Pakistan can submit their applications now. Virtual university has invited applications for admission in various Bachelors, Master’s and MS degree programs as well as diplomas and certification courses.

The link for “Course Selection” will be active/ available w.e.f. Wednesday, 28th March, 2018 under “Student Services” tab in VULMS. The students are advised to log-in to their VULMS account and select their course(s) immediately or before the semester commencement date.However, last date to add/drop course(s) will be Thursday, 26th April, 2018. Tuition fee voucher issued after this date shall not be revised.
Important Notes:
Newly admitted students, enrolled in the 1st semester of their respective study program, are given pre-selected courses. However, they have an option to reduce course load by dropping course(s) using course selection link (this practice will increase study duration).
Existing/ continuing students must make their course selection as mentioned above. Failing to enroll any course(s) he/she will be treated as “INACTIVE STUDENT” during the semester and a fine will also be imposed under “Semester Freeze Rules 2012”.
Course/ work load (Credit Hours) limits have been prescribed and published separately for each study program in “Course Selection Rules” in side “Student Handbook”. Students must read the rules carefully before making their course selection for the current semester.
Guidelines/Explanations:
Students are expected to follow the “semester wise study scheme” of their respective study program so that their scholarship eligibility may not effect (See Scholarship Rules).
Course/work load can be increased or reduced within prescribed limits of credit hours for each semester according to availability of time which a student can dedicate to the studies.Therefore, the work load may vary from student to student in a semester.
Continuously enrolling maximum course/work load in each semester does not mean that a study program can be completed earlier than its minimum prescribed residential requirement except for those students who may be granted course exemptions.
Students struggling with their CGPA are advised to reduce their course/ work load so that they can give more concentration to each enrolled course which will eventually result in better CGPA.
Course Pre-requisite Rule requires enrollment and qualifying of Basic/Introductory courses before an advanced level course in the series may be selected/ enrolled. Therefore, said rule must be followed and given due care while making course selection.
Students with Blocked VULMS (due to non-payment of fee) will not be allowed to make their course selection unless they deposit their outstanding dues and get their LMS accounts active from Accounts Department.
Grade Improvement Policy encourages the students to repeat ‘F’ or ‘D’ grade courses, if any, on priority basis in following semester(s) whereas maximum credit hours limit for the respective semester has to be followed. However, for all MS/ MPhil programs, ‘F’, ‘D’, ‘C’ and even ‘B-’ grade courses can be enrolled for improvement of grade.
Guidelines/Explanations:
Qualified “D” grade course(s) can be repeated for improvement only once during the entire study program.In case of MS/ MPhil program, the same rule applies on courses qualified with ‘D’, ‘C’ and ‘B-’ grades.
Failed course(s) can be repeated until qualified.
Improved/better grade of a course will substitute/replace the previous/lower grade and eventually increase the CGPA.However, in case of non-improvement of grade, the previous better grade will stand and counted towards CGPA calculation.
A student who fails to achieve the required CGPA for award of diploma/degree upon completion of entire prescribed course work of a study program may be allowed to repeat once the course(s) of the previous semesters in which s/he had obtained the low grade (i.e. ‘C’ or ‘D’) in order to achieve the minimum CGPA required for the award of diploma/degree, failing which s/he shall cease to be on the rolls of the University.
Residential Requirement of Study Program: Each student is required to complete his/her study program within prescribed time duration / number of semester(s) e.g. regular student will complete 2-year master program within 2-year / 4-semesetr and 4-year BS Programs within 4-year / 8-semester.

1.A student may request for paper rechecking within five working days after the publication of the result on payment of the prescribed fee per paper.
2.Re-checking of a student’s paper will be done to ensure that:
a.No portion of the answer material has been left un-marked
b.There is no mistake in the grand total
3.Re-assessment of answer material shall not be permissible
4.In case the re-checking requests results in a increase of marks, the Rechecking Fee will be refunded.
5.The decision of the University shall be final.
Procedure:
In order to request for paper rechecking, follow the steps below:
1.From within the LMS, click the Student Services button
2.Click on the Apply for Rechecking of Papers link
3.A form with the list of your courses having a checkbox in front of each will be displayed
4.Click the check box(es) against the course(s) that you want rechecked
5.Click the Submit Request button
6.Your request will be generated on the form
7.Click on the Print Voucher link
8.The voucher will be displayed in a separate window
(Note: In case you want to make any change(s) in your request, close the voucher window, click the Withdraw Request link on the form and start again)
9.Print the voucher
10.Deposit the fee in the bank mentioned on the voucher
11.Make sure to obtain the stamped copy of the paid voucher
12.Scan and upload the paid copy of voucher using the Upload Paid Voucher link
13.You will be able to download your rechecked paper (s) after 8-10 working days provided VU-Accounts Department has confirmed the receipt of payments.

Virtual University of Pakistan commemorated 9th convocation for its students from Sindh at Regent Plaza Hotel, Main Shahra-e-Faisal Karachi on February 28, 2018.
As many as 437 students were conferred degrees for the successful completion of various degree programs. Furthermore, 8 Gold Medals and 15 Merit Certificates were also awarded to outstanding graduates. An audience included proud parents, members of faculty, eminent personalities from academia, corporate and public sector attended the event.
In his welcome address, Dr. Naveed A. Malik, Rector Virtual University of Pakistan, congratulated students, their parents, and wished them a prosperous future. He admired the students honored with gold medals and merit certificates for their dedication and outstanding achievements in their academic career.
Dr. Naveed A. Malik highlighted the achievements of Virtual University, its leading role in delivering information and communication technology based education and contribution in the provision of quality education even to the remotest areas of the country.
Former Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, was the Chief Guest at the Convocation. The chief guest emphasized the importance of higher education and the significance of research and development for the progress of the country. He said that Virtual University has a distinctly reputed place in the list of top national universities. He advised the students to contribute towards scientific and technological development of the country through their ability, dignity, determination and commitment.
Prof. Dr. Atta-ur-Rehman, along with Dr. Naveed A. Malik distributed awards to the high achievers to celebrate dedication in their respective disciplines.

Earlier in inaugural address, Dr. Naveed A Malik, Rector Virtual University of welcomed the guests and profusely thanked chief guest and respected parents for gracing the auspicious event with their presence. He said that VU is committed to spur the nation’s economic growth and development by converting knowledge into practical experience.

The re-schedule chance shall be provided one time only as per the given schedule
The decision of the University about re-scheduling i.e. city/center/date/time shall be final.
Procedure:
A student may request for rescheduling of missed/unplanned paper(s) from Student Services on or before Thursday, March 1,2018 (No request will be considered after the specified date.)
