People now a day have numerous options to commute domestically; either they can travel via personal conveyance such as cars/bikes or via public transport such as buses, auto, or taxi. It is commonly observed that the condition of public transport is usually bad, the interior of these public transports is usually filthy; the seats are ripped and damaged. In recent past, Taxi drivers were found charging high fairs for short traveling distances which passengers had to pay because there were no other options to go with. But thanks to the advent of online taxi services; the commuting methodology for many people has changed the face, literally. Not only these online taxi services have brought a sigh of relief for the affected commuters by providing latest model cars with air conditioning in reasonable price but have also challenged the local transport mafia by posing a great threat of taking over the market by storm.

Careem & Uber, the pioneers who had transformed taxi-rides globally have entered Pakistan a few years back. Anyone could get the benefit of traveling through these taxi-rides at their doorsteps, anytime. As these taxis are integrated with an online application which connects drivers with customers based on a mapping and pricing algorithm that delivers rides that are often cheaper than regular taxis. Unlike regular taxis, these companies penalize their drivers if they provide bad services by any means to the customers. Also, the passengers have the option to rate their drivers after every ride. Drivers who have cars of latest models are allowed to work for these companies. Prior to the selection as a driver, the proper information of the person is taken and verified from the concerned authorizes. So, in this way, these taxis are considered as a safe and secured transport than other regular taxis. At the moment both of these companies are operating in metro cities of Pakistan with the largest clientele of passengers travel everyday 24/7. However, with the

use of similar technology and an almost same business model, Careem is getting more renowned day by day; on the other hand, Uber’s clientele and fame are comparatively stagnant. In order to continue its operations and clientele maximization, Uber needs to be vigilant in terms of employing modern CRM practices with the conjunction of contemporary marketing tactics that Careem is already following.
