Dear students!
  • As you know that Post Mid-Term semester activities have started and load shedding problem is also prevailing in our country. Keeping in view the fact, you all are advised to post your activities as early as possible without waiting for the due date. For your convenience; activity schedule has already been uploaded on VULMS for the current semester, therefore no excuse will be entertained after due date of assignments or GDBs.
  • Topic:“Leadership Application”

Objective of the Assignment:
  • To familiarize the students with the application of the leadership in real-life.
Learning Outcomes:
After attempting this assignment, the students will be able to:
  • Identify the need for applying appropriate leadership style in different situations.
Case:
Mr. Ali and Mr. Bilal were working at Avid Technology Ltd which is the Pakistan’s largest manufacturing company. Both of them were promoted within the organization into management positions. Both of them treated their promotion differently.
Mr. Ali remained the same and didn’t change a bit. He kept on participating in the gossips and chit-chat with his subordinates and he never behaved like his boss. On the other hand, Mr. Bilal’s attitude was totally different after his promotion. He was giving orders to his peers without considering that he was one of them. He never listened to any idea from his subordinates in the decisions he made.
In the annual performance evaluation of both the departments, it was revealed that they are not performing as per the expectations. Further investigations revealed that as Mr. Ali was too friendly with his subordinates. His subordinated do not abide by the orders from Mr. Ali seriously. As a result, his subordinates were not achieving the organizational goals. Also, due to Mr. Ali’s attitude, the subordinates were not clear about his instructions.
In case of Mr. Bilal, his harsh behavior alienated him. His subordinates were offended that he didn’t consider his previous relations and became arrogant.
Also, his subordinates were of the view that he is imposing his decisions to achieve unrealistic goals. He never showed concern for the needs of his subordinates which resulted in poor performance.
After analyzing the scenario, you are required to:
  • Suggest which type of leadership style should be adopted by Mr. Ali and Mr. Bilal for optimal performance in their respective departments. Justify with at least 5 valid points. (4 marks for identification+ 6 marks for reasoning)
Important:

24 hours extra / grace period after the due date is usually available for assignment to overcome uploading difficulties. This extra time should only be used to meet the emergencies and above mentioned due date should always be treated as final to avoid any inconvenience.
